NEWTEL CHOOSES VIATEL TO UPGRADE NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE AND PROVIDE INCREASED BANDWIDTH ACROSS JERSEY & GUERNSEY

Viatel is pleased to announce a successful partnership with Newtel to deploy a complete network infrastructure upgrade, enabling substantially increased bandwidth.

Newtel is an independent telco offering communication solutions for both business and residential customers in Jersey & Guernsey the Isle of Man and beyond. Newtel was looking to move away from its traditional SDH platform and to provide services to its customers over a high speed DWDM infrastructure.

Viatel engineered a complex technical solution to meet Newtel’s requirements. In addition to providing 2x 10G diverse wavelength circuits, Viatel’s flexible approach in delivering solutions enabled the company to also provide Newtel with pre-configured hardware and on-going support which delivered an end-to-end solution.

“The Viatel solution was selected over alternatives because Newtel was looking for a provider who listened, who understood what they wanted, spoke their language and would meet all their needs, quickly. We are extremely pleased that our competitive and flexible offering has proved a success for Newtel,” said Randall Smedley, Wholesale Sales Manager at Viatel.

Dave Cribbs, Commercial Director at Viatel, additionally commented “With this new infrastructure in place we are working closely with Newtel in order to be able to deliver services to our customers who have presence in the Channel Islands. This is a real win-win for both companies.”

“Efficiency is very important to us and allows us to provide the best service to our customers. One of the key influencers for us in choosing Viatel was its ability to clearly understand our requirements, propose flexible solutions and deliver well within our expectations,” said Gary Whipp, CEO at Newtel.
