AIT Partnership Group Ltd, the leading Secure Network Solutions Partner in the UK, announced today the successful completion of a Wireless LAN project for the University of Bedfordshire. AIT installed a new WLAN with 500 access points across five sites to increase performance and upgrade the user experience.
The investment, part of the UK University’s ambitious £115m expansion plans, allows tech savvy users to easily connect their wireless devices, wherever they go within the University. Using the Wireless LAN they can instantly connect to access research and lecture material, as well as their own social and email accounts.

The new 802.11ac wireless LAN has a number of advantages over the old system. AIT designed a solution using Aerohives ‘controller less’ technology to avoid controller bottlenecks and provide more bandwidth for the heavy video and multimedia applications demanded by students. AIT successfully integrated the WLAN with ‘Eduroam’ authentication to enable staff, students and visitors from other institutions seamless access to the network. Together with self-service provisioning of the guest WLAN access, rather than manual issuing of access codes, Eduroam integration has reduced the support overhead on the ICT service desk users and improved the user experience.
